In an environment where chemical regulation and market demands for safer chemicals are on the rise, investors are increasingly looking for standards against which to measure chemicals management policies and practices. 

The Chemical Footprint Project (CFP) Assessment Survey was established to provide a standard metric for evaluating, measuring, and communicating chemicals management performance. It seeks to assess the extent to which companies proactively manage chemicals to capture new market opportunities, and avoid the financial risks of hazardous chemicals by anticipating new regulations and shifts in customer demands. 
 
Join the co-founder of the Chemical Footprint Project and investors supporting the project as they discuss the value of responding to the CFP Survey. Presentations will cover the development of the survey, the value proposition for investors and companies, and progress made in the first annual report. Discussion will follow about how investors can support the Chemical Footprint Project, use the survey in their investment decisions and engagement with companies. 
 

Speakers:

Mark S. Rossi, Executive Director, Clean Production Action

Dr. Rossi brings expertise in working with investors, corporations, environmental groups, academics, and regulators in advancing safer alternatives to chemicals of concern to human health and the environment. The BizNGO Principles for Safer Chemicals exemplify this work. Endorsed by over 90 organizations, the Principles set the foundation for the Chemical Footprint Project. Chemical Footprinting can be an important tool to communities disproportionately impacted by harmful chemicals and is global in its reach.
 

Sonja Haider, Senior Business and Investor Advisor, ChemSec – International Chemical Secretariat

Sonja holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking Services and Operations (CCI) and has a degree as a Fundraising Manager (FA). Since March 2010 she has worked as Advisor for the Investment Sector for ChemSec. Before joining ChemSec, she worked for Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF) as their German Director and Chemicals Coordinator, where she worked on REACH, responsible for press activities, publications and lobbying. She has extensive experience in project development and realization in a European NGO network. Before moving to the non-profit sector she was employed by banks in Germany and the UK to trade European stocks and work on the money markets as a propriety trader.    
 

Susan Baker, Vice President, Shareholder Advocacy -Trillium Asset Management

Trillium is a recognized leader in the fields of sustainable and responsible investing which for more than thirty years has been employing an investment discipline that integrates environmental, social and governance factors into its investment analysis. Susan leads communication with company leadership on issues including chemical use management, sustainable agriculture, human and labor rights, and board diversity.  She serves on the boards of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, Pesticide Action Network North America, and The Thirty Percent Coalition and earned a B.A. from Middlebury College, and Ed.M. from Harvard University.
